Direct-to-garment printing has become the mainstream choice for personalized printing due to its intricate patterns and excellent breathability. The production process must follow standardized procedures, with each step impacting the final outcome.

First comes the foundational preparation phase. Selecting the right fabric is crucial—cotton or high-cotton-content T-shirts are preferable, as cotton’s ink absorption ensures richer, more vibrant colors. Synthetic fabrics require pre-treatment coating to prevent ink buildup. Next, wash the T-shirt to remove surface dust and oils, preventing printing defects. After washing, air-dry and iron the fabric flat to eliminate wrinkles, which could cause nozzle scraping or pattern misalignment. Simultaneously, process the design using software like Photoshop or Illustrator. Adjust the resolution to 300dpi or higher, scale it to fit the T-shirt dimensions, and save it in a machine-compatible format (e.g., PNG, JPG).

Proceed to the core printing steps. Secure the T-shirt in the printer’s clamping fixture and position it precisely to ensure the design prints within the designated area. If the machine has a positioning function, use the camera to capture the T-shirt edges for precise alignment. Next, configure the printing parameters: select the appropriate ink type based on the fabric material (e.g., textile-specific reactive ink), adjust the print precision and ink concentration. Light-colored T-shirts can be printed directly, while dark-colored T-shirts require a white base layer first to cover the background color before printing the color pattern, preventing color bleeding. Once everything is ready, start the machine. The printhead will evenly spray ink onto the T-shirt surface according to the design pattern. Maintain a clean environment during printing to prevent dust adhesion.

Finally, post-processing determines the durability of the pattern. After printing, remove the T-shirt and let it air dry naturally for 10-15 minutes to allow the surface ink to initially set. Proceed with color-fixing treatment: use drying equipment (e.g., drying tunnel, oven) to bake at 130-150°C for 20-30 minutes, ensuring ink bonds fully with fabric fibers for enhanced wash resistance. Without professional equipment, iron the printed area through a cotton cloth at low temperature for 3-5 minutes. After processing, inspect the finished product for clarity, missing prints, and color uniformity. Once confirmed, your direct-to-garment printed T-shirt is complete.

Though seemingly straightforward, this process demands meticulous attention to detail. From fabric selection and parameter settings to color fixation, each step requires rigorous execution to produce high-quality direct-to-garment printed T-shirts.
