Ink splatter issues caused by digital textile printers?

Printhead Issues
Printhead Clogging:
Cause: Ink drying or impurities clogging the printhead, causing poor ink ejection and resulting in ink splatter.
Solution: Regularly clean the printhead using specialized printhead cleaning solution for soaking or flushing. For severe clogs, ultrasonic cleaning equipment may be required, but follow proper operating procedures to avoid nozzle damage.
Nozzle Aging:
Cause: Extended nozzle usage degrades internal components like piezoelectric crystals or heating elements, causing uneven ink ejection and ink splatter.
Solution: Replace nozzles promptly with reliable, compatible models suited for the printer. Additionally, maintain the printhead by avoiding prolonged continuous operation and performing regular calibration and maintenance.
Ink Issues
Inappropriate Ink Viscosity:
Cause: Excessively high viscosity reduces ink flowability, hindering smooth ejection from the printhead and causing ink splatter. Conversely, excessively low viscosity may cause ink dispersion during ejection, also leading to splatter.
Solution: Adjust ink viscosity according to printer specifications and ink characteristics. Typically, this can be achieved by adding specialized viscosity modifiers. Additionally, ensure proper ink storage conditions, avoiding prolonged exposure to high or low temperatures that may affect viscosity.
Poor Ink Quality:
Cause: Impurities, air bubbles, or unstable components in the ink can impair spray performance and cause ink splatter.
Solution: Select high-quality ink brands with proven reliability to ensure consistent ink quality. Filter the ink before use to remove impurities. Pay attention to ink storage conditions and expiration dates to avoid using expired or degraded ink.
Printing Machine Settings Issues
Excessive Print Speed:
Cause: Excessive print speed prevents the printhead from accurately controlling ink ejection, causing ink splatter and ink splatter.
Solution: Appropriately reduce the print speed. Select a suitable print speed based on the printing machine's performance and the printhead's ejection frequency. Generally, choose the lowest possible print speed that maintains print quality to minimize ink splatter.
Improper Nozzle Height Setting:

Operating Environment Issues
Excessively High or Low Temperature:
Cause: High temperatures accelerate ink drying, potentially clogging nozzles and causing ink splatter. Low temperatures increase ink viscosity and reduce flowability, also leading to ink splatter.
Solution: Maintain a controlled working environment temperature, ideally between 20–25°C (68–77°F). Use equipment like air conditioners or heaters to regulate indoor temperature, preventing adverse effects on the printer and ink from extreme temperatures.
Excessive Humidity:
Cause: High humidity causes ink to absorb moisture from the air during ejection, diluting it and impairing spray quality, resulting in ink splatter.
Solution: Use dehumidifiers to reduce environmental humidity, ideally maintaining it between 40%–60%. Ensure adequate ventilation to circulate air and prevent excessive humidity from damaging the printer and fabrics.
